Christmas Hamper Program

The Program:

This program provides personalized hampers for low income families at Christmas. Sponsors are recruited and matched with recipients. Hampers consist of food for a Christmas Meal, gifts for each immediate family member and groceries for a week to brighten an otherwise bleak holiday for a qualified, low income individual or family.

Ways To Help:

1. Sponsor A Family

You choose the size of family you would like to assist. You will receive a Sponsor Package, which provides the food hamper shopping list; profile of the family, ages and sizes of each member, and a wish list for the family’s gifts. We ask that each family member receive a gift valued between $50.00 and $75.00 An approximate cost of a complete hamper for a family of 4 is $500.00. Refer to the FAQ sponsors page for complete information.

Sponsors may be companies, organizations, individuals and families. If your budget allows please consider sponsoring a larger family or several smaller ones. Or perhaps you could drop off any excess items at the Airdrie Lioness Hamper Depot so that we can put it toward another family this Christmas.

As a Sponsor you will need to bring your hamper to our Depot by Thursday, December 14, 2017. Refer to the Sponsor a Family page for more information.

2. Make a Cash Donation

Monies received are used to purchase food, toys, gift certificates and food vouchers for families that haven’t been sponsored yet and who are in need this holiday season. Cash donations are accepted in person at the Hamper Depot or by mail. All financial donations of $20.00 or more are eligible for an Official Tax Receipt. You can also donate food / gifts/ toys.

Every little bit helps when it comes to ensuring that parents who are struggling can provide a Merry Christmas for their children. Any non-perishable food item, new toy or gift can be dropped off at our Christmas Depot. We usually run short on gifts for adults and teens.

Refer to the Donations section on the FAQ for Sponsors page for more information.

3. Volunteer

The Airdrie Lioness Club members are all volunteers and we can’t meet the needs of our community without your help. If you have an hour or two to spare we would love to have your assistance! Volunteering is a great way to give back to our community and to remember what the season is all about. Refer to our Volunteer page for more information.
